Swaffham Dial-A-Bus

A PRE-BOOKABLE DOOR TO DOOR SERVICE FOR PEOPLE WITH MOBILITY PROBLEMS, INCLUDING THE DISABLED FRAIL AND THE ELDERLY

Serving Swaffham and the surrounding villages; and travelling into Swaffham, Watton, Fakenham, Dereham and Kings Lynn.

We aim to provide accessible, affordable and safe transport services for the elderly and disabled within the West Norfolk, North Norfolk and Breckland area.

We are a membership organisation: therefore groups/individuals are required to register with us before they can benefit from our services.

Our fleet of minibuses are able to carry up to 16 passengers. All the minibuses are fitted with seatbelts, and have first aid kits and instruction manuals on board. The majority of our fleet have tail-lifts to accomodate wheelchair users. All drivers are trained to a nationally recognised standard - MIDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme), which is endorsed by ROSPA

We strive to achieve good quality, friendly and flexible service and we encourage people to telephone or write in with complaints/grievances or suggestions etc.

What is Dial-A-Bus?

Dial-A-Bus is a demand responsive transport service designed for people who cannot access or use conventional modes of transport, including the elderly, frail and disabled.

Our buses have special steps and handrails to help you and there is a lift for you to use if you prefer. Each bus has special clamps and fittings to hold you and your wheelchair in safely or you can be assisted to transfer to a seat if you prefer.

For the safety and security of all our passengers, seatbelts must be worn. If you need assisstance with your seatbelt, please tell the driver.

So that Dial-A-Bus can be available to as many people as possible it follows a form of route and timetable. To find out which days/times it serves your area, please click here

The bus will pick you up at your home and take you into the town for shopping, appointments, visiting friends/relatives etc. . . Journey times may vary depending on how many people are travelling.

Who can use the Service?

People who have transport problems because of age, disability, location, or those who have difficulties with using public transport.
